Today I got this email:Dear Anne, I hope you are doing well. We are still waiting to hear back from the patient’s doctor. The delay can be due to several reasons, including the patient’s current condition. It may take up to 2 months from the day you went in for the blood draw for us to hear back from them. We will contact you immediately with any updates regarding your donation. Thank you for your patience.
So this update is, in a sense, letting you know that there is no update. I’m still waiting to hear back from DKMS, and still waiting to find out if I will be able to donate to this patient. I am hopeful, I am optimistic. I am ready and willing to help save this person’s life.
I just hope that I am given the chance.
Until then, I wait.
